Väitöstilaisuuden aluksi väittelijä pitää enintään 20 minuutin mittaisen puheen, lektion, joka johdattaa kuulijat väitöstutkimuksen aihepiiriin.
Lektiot jatkavat ja täydentävät tutkimuksessa esiin nousseita teemoja. Ne paitsi kokoavat yhteen työn syntyhistorian ja taustat myös avaavat taiteellisen tutkimuksen kysymyksenasetteluja ja tutkimisen tapoja alaa vähemmän tunteville yleisöille.
Introductory talk
At the beginning of the public examination the doctoral candidate stands up to give a 20 minute introductory talk, Lectio Praecursoria, introducing the topic of the doctoral research to the audience.
Lectio Praecursoria essays develop and complement the themes that have emerged during the research process. They not only sum up the history and the background of the work but also explain the research inquiry and methodology to audiences less familiar with the field.
